(ha tient, ça me signale plus mon pseudo, étrange ...)
"The only problems I ever had were at hair school, when they made me put band aids over my lip plug & the backs of my hands, and wear long sleeves. This was after I enrolled and paid, of course, so it?s not as though they hadn?t seen me. They also insisted I use Dermablend to cover my face tattoos. I did all that for about a week, then just quietly stopped, and came to school in long sleeves but without any of the other crap. Every few weeks someone would notice and the whole stupid thing would start over again. Jean Madeline Aveda Institute in Philadelphia, I do not recommend you.
Out in the actual real world I?ve had no problems at all? It?s a creative profession and generally fairly accepting. Being based in NYC doesn?t hurt either, I?m sure."
"I didn?t have trouble finding a job, but any stylist is going to be broke until they build a clientele, and it took me a couple of years before I really started being able to support myself.
Word of mouth is your friend, do a few favors here and there for high profile people who can help promote you, and don?t get sucked into the trap of doing friends for free! I cannot stress this enough, before you know it you?ll be working 7 days a week and making no money at all.
I worked strictly freelance for a long time, it was only about a year ago that I found a salon that suits me."
